be not afraid is a work of relatively simple rhythmic structure masked under dense hyper-chromaticism (utilizing 24-TET, far beyond the capabilities of a normal harp's seven available tones at any given moment in time). A vast build, decay, and build again, the piece takes a few clear themes and manipulates them into becoming timbrally diverse and clashing with the given tones in the main subject. The title be not afraid is representative of the tempestuous motions the piece goes through, moving from jarring chords and runs to a reverent, resonant B section.

Louis Dhoore (b. 2002) is a Mexican-American composer who splits their residency between Boise, ID and Northfield, MN. They are currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Composition at St. Olaf College (anticipated 2023), under the tutelage of Dr. Timothy Mahr and Dr. Justin Merritt.
In order to convey their artistic pursuits, Dhoore seeks to create music that “sounds the way biblical angels look” through exploring timbral effects as it relates to virtuosity on acoustic instruments. Truly, nothing is better than a satisfying crunch and the resulting looks on an unsuspecting audience’s visage.
When they aren’t composing or performing, Dhoore is painstakingly refining lore for their homebrewed Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting for maximum consistency and emotional satisfaction.
